Andrew, Adria, Judah, Josiah and Joanna Medlen
Both Andrew and Adria responded to a call to serve the urban poor directly after college. Andrew moved from Topeka, Kansas, to St. Louis to serve with World Impact in 2001 and Adria moved from Camarillo, California, in 2006. They both fell in love with the city and the people of St. Louis, as well as felt God reinforce their call to serve the urban poor through church planting. In 2008 they married and began their family’s journey to follow Christ in the city.
In August of 2012, they relocated to Wichita, Kansas, to serve with The Urban Ministry Institute, a leadership training branch of World Impact. It was an amazing time of growth and clarification of their call to help facilitate church planting movements among the urban poor and, in June of 2013, they transitioned to the World Impact Wichita ministry to help especially with the church planting efforts.
Their time in Wichita included partnering to develop ministry in local prisons, helping to relaunch the Christ the Victor Church Planting movement, a part-time deployment to Topeka, Kansas, and various other regional ministry opportunities.
Then in January of 2017, the Medlens returned to St. Louis to direct the relaunch of the St. Louis ministry site. They are passionate about empowering leaders for the urban church and feel honored to do that in a city so dear to their hearts.
God has blessed Andrew and Adria with three children, Judah, Josiah, and Joanna, who contribute so much joy and zeal to their family’s missionary call to the city.
