Andy and his wife, Lisa, have been missionaries with World Impact since 1986. Andy grew up in a rural area near Wichita, Kansas. He graduated from Tabor College with a degree in social work in 1982. It was there that he met Lisa and they later married in June of 1982. Andy worked as a social worker in Wichita for several years investigating child abuse and neglect. In 1986, Andy and Lisa received the call to minister with World Impact. They served their first six years in Wichita helping to establish "Celebration Church" and also working with hundreds of youth and teens.
In 1992 they transferred to Los Angeles where they began a new ministry on Raymond Street to work with youth and adults.
