Daren, Tina, Jackson, and Justus Busenitz
Daren became a missionary with World Impact after graduating from Moody Bible Institute. He joined the Wichita staff and moved into a house in the Oaklawn community on September 7, 1999.
At that time, Tina was a junior in high school at Trinity Academy, and living with her parents, who were also World Impact missionaries. She graduated with honors and began her undergraduate studies at Wichita State University, where she later obtained a bachelor’s degree in Sociology.
Daren and Tina got to know each other as youth leaders of the Refinery Youth Group, a youth group combining high school age students from two of World Impact’s Wichita church plants. They began dating in January of 2003 and were married one year later.
In 2005 Daren and Tina moved from Oaklawn after transitioning off the church plant team when Daren became the Wichita Church Planting Director and helped give oversight of the transition of three Wichita church plants. In June of 2008 they were instrumental in starting the newest church plant, Christ the Victor. The church that began in their basement has since helped to start two other churches, one in English and one in Spanish.
In July of 2013, after a few years as Wichita Director, Daren became the Executive Director of Ministry for World Impact’s Midwest Region. Tina works in member care and women’s ministry. Daren and Tina have two boys, Jackson (Sept. 2009) and Justus (Aug. 2012).
