Rev. Daren Busenitz
Daren became a missionary with World Impact after graduating from Moody Bible Institute in 1999. He joined the Wichita staff, and shortly after moving into a house in the low income Oaklawn community of South Wichita, became the church-plant team leader in April of 2000. During this time, Daren married Tina Entz, the daughter of World Impact missionaries Andy and Lisa Entz.
In 2005, Daren became the Wichita Church Plant Director, which included the oversight of three church plants in transition. In June of 2008, Daren provided leadership in starting the newest church plant, Christ the Victor, with the vision to start a movement of multiplying churches among the urban poor. The church began in their basement and has since multiplied into fifteen churches in four states with five of these churches in prison.
In February of 2009, Daren took on the role of Wichita City Director and gave oversight to the Wichita ministry as a whole. He also gave leadership in beginning The Urban Church Association, which comes alongside urban pastors of small churches who have little or no other connections.
In July of 2013, Daren took a new World Impact role of Regional Director of Ministry for World Impact Midwest. He oversaw the development of World Impact’s Four Focus Areas in the Midwest Region. This recently developed into One Focus Area: Empower Urban Leaders and this is accomplished in seven strategic ministry initiatives all for the purpose to find, equip, and release indigenous leaders in starting and strengthening the local church among the urban poor.
In 2016, Daren became the Midwest Regional Vice President and now oversees all ministry and operations. He has the privilege to lead a strong team that is doing all it can to get to the 37 poorest cities in the Midwest so that we might find urban leaders in areas of poverty who need encouraging, resourcing, and solid Biblical training utilizing the resources from TUMI (The Urban Ministry Institute), World Impact’s theological training arm now connecting with church leaders around the world.
In addition to his responsibilities with World Impact, Daren and Tina welcomed their first son, Jackson Sean, on September 6, 2009, their second son, Justus Scott, on August 11, 2012, and their third son, Caden Earl, on July 6, 2018.
Daren enjoys sports, especially all things KU basketball and 14ers (mountains over 14,000 feet) in Colorado.
